The Counterfeit Opera premieres at Little Island, May 29 - June 15, 2025.
A new take on the legendary satire - The Beggar's Opera - that has criticized corruption and picked on politicians for centuries.

The Counterfeit Opera sets the antihero robber Macheath in the streets of 1850s Manhattan, where grifting gangs and working women find themselves too poor to win, but too smart to fail.

With book and lyrics by yours truly, original music by Dan Schlosberg, and direction by Dustin Wills. The cast is astonishing, as is the rest of the creative team, and tickets are only $25. This is selling out quickly, so jump on getting your tickets1

I’m in-process with The Next Forever Commission and Residency.
Thanks to generous support from The Civilians in conjunction with Princeton’s High Meadows Environmental Institute and Lewis Center for the Arts, I’m spending the 24/25 academic year in residence at Princeton University. I’m researching and developing Topia, a metafictional play about optimism, pessimism, and our epic climate crisis.

I’m in-process with Theater Masters’ Visionary Playwright Award and Commission.
Sisters is a follow-up to Montag. I’m considering this the second play of a loose trilogy of stories about women, clubbing, and unconventional friendships.

Three cheers for Montag’s Obie Awards!
Director Dustin Wills and lead actors Ariana Venturi and Nadine Malouf were recognized for their brilliant, dedicated work in the Soho Rep. production of Montag, at the 67th annual Obie Awards on January 27, 2024.

Just published, and available here through Soho Rep’s online shop. Edited by Ife Olujobi and designed by Studio Usher, this a culmination document celebrating the playwrights of Soho Rep’s 2022-23 season, providing unique insights into Montag, Public Obscenities, and The Whitney Album.

Impossibilities is chock-full of gorgeous photographs; Phillip Howze and MJ Kaufman wrote an illuminating, personal reflection on Montag; and you can see all the nonsense I email myself when working on a play.
